The Fort Worth Zoo is a zoo in Fort Worth, Texas, USA
that was founded in 1909 with one lion, two bear cubs, an alligator, a
coyote, a peacock and a few rabbits. The Zoo now is home to 5000 native
and exotic animals of 435 species and has been named in the top 10 zoos in the United States. The Fort Worth Zoo hosts the Turtle Survival Alliance. It was founded in
2001 as an IUCN task group to help stabilize populations of Asian fresh
water turtles. In May and September 1956 the two first gorillas were imported to this zoo. They were a couple called Mike and Connie. At the moment, no gorillas were born at Fort Worth Zoo.
