TheMilwaukee County Zoois a zoo inMilwaukee, Wisconsin, operated by the Milwaukee County Parks Commission. The Zoo opened in 1958 with the primate building, monkey island, feline house, pachyderm mall, and grizzly bear den and houses currently about 2200 animals, covering a land area of 200 acres (81 ha). The zoo is also home to one of the largest group of bonobos in one location outside their native Democratic Republic of the Congo. The first gorillas at Milwaukee Zoo were two males called Sambo and Samson. They arrived in October 1950 from Africa, but it wasn't till May 1984 when the first baby gorilla was born, to parents Diane and Tanga.
